Docket 05 · Official mail

Your company’s most important letters arrive in a country you do not live in. Here is exactly what happens to them.

Mail handling is where formation services over-promise most and explain least. So this page is the protocol itself — the same words that appear in your service agreement — because a founder should be able to hold us to a written procedure, not a slogan.

Included in Hosted, $79/mo — take the intake quiz or go to checkout.

The protocol, word for word

Official mail and legal process received by CorpNet, the registered agent of record, are uploaded by CorpNet to its own portal. CorpNet promises no timeframe for receipt, scanning, or upload, and does not undertake to forward documents. Sethhost checks that portal each business day, mirrors retrieved scans into your client portal, and sends an email alert the same business day a scan is retrieved. Alerts are best efforts, not guaranteed.

What counts as official mail

  • Service of process — lawsuits, subpoenas, and legal notices served on the agent. These start legal clocks; the alert exists for them.
  • State correspondence — report notices, tax letters, and demands from the state that chartered you.
  • IRS and federal correspondence addressed to the entity at the registered office.

What is not covered — plainly

General business mail is not covered. The registered office address is not a business mailing address: do not print it on invoices, do not ship inventory or returns to it, and do not expect customer letters to be scanned. Online-seller verification cards (the postcards Amazon, Google, and Walmart marketplaces send) cannot be verified at the registered office. These limits are the registered-agent product’s real shape, in every state, from every honest provider.

A true business mailing address is not part of Hosted today. We are assembling a business-address option with our partners — a real address that can receive your ordinary mail, with scanning allowances in writing. It joins this page as a priced service when it is real, and not before. Join the waitlist and we will write the day it opens.

Why we write it this way

Because the alternative is discoverable. A provider who prints “same-day scanning” while its agent promises no timeframe has written a sentence its own supply chain contradicts. Our desk work — the daily portal check, the mirroring, the same-day alert on retrieval — is the part we control, and it is the part we commit to, as best efforts, in the agreement you sign.

Filing processing fee: 3% of the total order amount, charged by our fulfillment provider, CorpNet, where it applies to your order, including on pass-through charges within the order. It is shown as its own itemized line at checkout and is not Sethhost revenue.

Questions on this filing

How fast will I see a lawsuit?

As fast as the chain allows: the agent uploads on its own schedule (no timeframe is promised upstream), and our desk retrieves and alerts the same business day it appears. We publish this chain precisely so you can judge it.

Can I use the address on my website as my office?

The registered office may be listed where the law requires an agent address. Presenting it as your own office or mailing address is a different claim, and not a true one.

Do you forward paper originals?

The service is built on scans mirrored to your portal. Where an original must move, the desk arranges it with you case by case; forwarding is not an undertaking of the agent.
